Everything you need to fix your Shopify store
How the diagnostic app works, what your health score means, and what to expect from a $39 expert session. Built for merchants, not engineers.
Getting started
What is help1
help1 is two things working together. A free Shopify app that scans your store and tells you exactly what is broken. And a paid expert chat platform where a vetted Shopify Partner fixes the issues you do not want to handle yourself.
The app stays free forever. The chat is $39 per session and your first 15 minutes are free. There is no subscription, no retainer, and no project scoping.
Two products, one goal
Quick start
Most merchants are scanning their store and reading their first health report within a couple of minutes.
Install the app
One-click install from the Shopify App Store. No account, no card.
Run your first scan
The first scan runs automatically and finishes in under 30 seconds.
Review the report
See your health score, top issues, and what each one is costing you.
Fix or hand off
Apply a one-click fix yourself, or hand it to a $39 expert session.
Install the Shopify app
help1 is a Shopify-embedded app, which means it runs inside your Shopify admin. There is nothing to download.
- Open the help1 listing on the Shopify App Store.
- Click Install. Shopify handles authentication.
- Approve the read scopes. The app explains what each one is for. See What we read for the full list.
- The first scan runs automatically. You land on the dashboard with your health score and prioritized issue list.

Your health score
Your health score is a single 0-100 number that summarizes the state of your store. It is calculated from every check the app ran during the most recent scan.
Healthy. A few suggestions to polish.
Needs work. Real issues are losing you sales.
Critical. Multiple issues are actively breaking conversion.
Your score history is stored for the last 30 scans so you can see trends over time as you fix things.
What we check
Every scan runs 29 checks across five categories. Here is a short version. The full list lives on the features page.
Product diagnostics
Catalog hygiene that decides whether shoppers add to cart or bounce.
- Missing product images
- Empty or short descriptions
- Missing SEO titles and meta descriptions
- Images without alt text
- Duplicate product titles
Theme analysis
Theme-level issues that make a store look unprofessional or break on customers.
- Outdated theme version
- Missing favicon
- Multiple unused themes installed
Content audit
Pages and policies that buyers (and Google) expect to find before they trust the store.
- Missing Privacy Policy, Terms, or Refund Policy pages
- Missing About, Contact, or FAQ pages
- Pages with empty or thin content
- Stale or missing blog posts
Store configuration
Quiet setup mistakes that lose sales every day without any obvious symptom.
- No shipping zones configured
- Still using a myshopify.com domain
- Default store name unchanged
- Currency and country mismatch
Performance review
Drag on load time and conversion that comes from too many apps, bloated themes, or redirect chains.
- Too many apps installed
- Excessive Liquid template files
- Oversized theme assets
- Redirect chains
Severity levels
Every issue is tagged with a severity so you know what to handle first.
- CriticalActively breaking conversion or compliance. Fix this week.
- WarningHurting sales but not breaking the store. Fix this month.
- SuggestionPolish that helps in the long run. Fix when you have time.
One-click quick fixes
Some issues do not need a human. The app can apply the fix for you with one click. Quick fixes always show you the exact change and require your confirmation before anything is written to your store.
What can be quick-fixed today:
- Generate SEO titles and meta descriptions for products that are missing them
- Add alt text to product images that have none
- Create starter pages: About, Contact, Privacy Policy, Terms, Refund Policy, FAQ
- Set a favicon and a default social sharing image
- Convert deprecated Liquid tags in your theme
- Remove unused themes from your library
Read-only by default
Re-running scans
After you apply a fix, click Re-scan on the dashboard. A new scan completes in seconds and your health score updates. This is how you verify a fix actually landed.
We keep the last 30 scans so you can compare the score before and after a change. Pulling up an old scan is non-destructive.
Expert sessions
How sessions work
An expert session is a real-time chat with a Shopify Partner. Every expert is technically vetted and has at least one year of professional Shopify experience. They are not random freelancers.
Describe the issue
Pre-chat form: store URL (auto-filled), category, brief description. Takes 30 seconds.
Match in under 5 minutes
We route you to an expert who specializes in your issue. Average wait under 5 minutes.
Live chat plus screen share
They share their screen, walk you through the fix, and resolve it while you watch.
Transcript saved
The full conversation, links, and code snippets are saved to your account.
Your free session
Every account gets one free 15-minute session. No credit card required. Bring any issue. If 15 minutes resolves it, you are done.
If your issue is bigger than 15 minutes, the expert will tell you up front and you can choose to continue at the $39 rate or end the session at no charge.
Booking a paid session
Paid sessions are 60 minutes. Flat $39. One-time payment via Paddle. Paddle handles tax, currency, and accepts cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay.
- From the dashboard, click Start a paid session.
- The Paddle overlay opens. Enter payment details.
- You go straight into the chat queue once payment clears.
No subscription. Ever.
What experts can fix
If it is a Shopify problem, an expert can probably fix it. Common requests:
- Broken or slow checkouts
- Page speed and Core Web Vitals issues
- Theme customization and layout fixes
- Conflicts between apps
- SEO titles, sitemaps, redirects
- Shipping zones, taxes, and configuration
- Product data cleanup at scale
- Mobile rendering issues
- Liquid edits and small custom code
If your request is out of scope (large rebuilds, multi-week development projects), the expert will tell you within the first few minutes and refund the session.
After your session
When the session ends, you get a saved transcript with every message, screenshot, and code snippet. You can re-open it any time from your dashboard.
You also get a 1-5 star rating prompt. Ratings are how we keep the expert pool quality high. Anything below 4 stars triggers a manual review.

Privacy & security
What we read
The app uses read-only Shopify scopes. Each one is required for a specific category of checks.
- read_products - product images, descriptions, SEO fields, alt text checks
- read_themes - theme version, asset, and template checks
- read_online_store_pages - missing or empty page detection
- read_shipping - shipping zone configuration
- read_locales - multi-language setup
- read_content - page and blog content checks
Write scopes are requested only for one-click fixes (SEO fields, alt text, starter pages, theme settings, navigation). They are never used without an explicit click and a confirm.
What we never touch
Some Shopify scopes are not required for diagnostics. We intentionally do not request them, ever.
- Customer personal information (names, emails, addresses, phone numbers)
- Order data and purchase history
- Payment methods and billing details
- Inventory levels and pricing data beyond display
The full policy is on the privacy page.
Uninstalling and data deletion
Uninstall help1 the same way as any other Shopify app: Settings -> Apps and sales channels -> help1 -> Uninstall. Access tokens are revoked the moment you click Uninstall.
Scan history is kept for 48 hours after uninstall in case you reinstall. After 48 hours, Shopify sends a redaction request and we permanently delete every record tied to your shop.
Need immediate deletion? Email hello@help1.io and we will process it within one business day.
